Self Renewal
If we allow our souls to become emotionally, physically and spiritually stagnant, our influence and servitude ceases to be positive. We must let loose. Our lives often become so structured with time schedules, we get a feeling that we are indispensable. We are not. As mothers and wives we tend to hover over our spouse and children. This is neither healthy for them nor for us. They too must experiment, take risks and even improvise when mother is taking time for self-renewal.
To keep from becoming spiritual invalids, we need to assess our situation regularly to find out what boosts our morale. It may be a trip to the hair salon, exercise, home crafts or a trip to the fishing hole.
Every member of the family needs quiet spaces. Changing internal attitudes preclude the basis for external behavior and appearance. Once we determine we have become cynical about life and feel spiritually bankrupt, it is time to seek self-renewal.
To 'get away from it all', we need only to go to nature to rejuvenate ourselves through earth's healing powers. Christ, the shepherd boy David, and Paul are prime examples of going to nature to rejuvenate themselves. When one gets in tune with Nature, one gets in tune with God by observing the beauty in a rosebud, or a monstrous tree, or a cottontail, or a squirrel, or the intricate detail of a butterfly, or pulling a flopping fish out of the water.
Some of the finer elixirs of life are found in nature. My friend, we all have a need to 'get away from it all'. Even with a family, mothers must find time to nurture self.
